We are committed to safeguarding your information in every way you choose to interact with us, whether it be in a branch, over the telephone, by mail or online through our website or mobile application. In addition, both state and Federal law impose on us a continuing obligation to protect the security and confidentiality of your information. This Online Privacy Policy (the "Privacy Policy”) describes and applies to the information collected when you visit online interfaces (e.g., website or mobile application) collectively (the”Site”) owned or controlled by Securityplus Federal Credit Union (SFCU).    

Our Privacy Disclosure Policy

We share nonpublic personal information only as permitted by law and we will continue to take those actions which are reasonable and prudent to protect the privacy and security of the financial information we obtain through your transactions with us.

We collect nonpublic personal information about you from the following sources:

  • Information we receive from you on applications or other forms, such as: your name, address, Social Security number, assets and your income.
  • Information about your transactions with our affiliates, others, or us such as: your account balance, payment history, parties to transactions, and credit card usage.
  • Information we receive from a consumer credit reporting agency such as: your creditworthiness and credit history.
  • Information we receive from cookies relating to electronic banking.

What are "cookies” and how do we use them? Cookies are small text files that are placed on your computer or device to distinguish you from other visitors to the Site. We and/or our third-party advertising providers may place cookies or similar files on your hard drive to collect or track information about your activities while using the Site, including time spent on the Site, pages visited, and your relationship with us. Mobile applications may also use cookies.

We use cookies and information gathered through their use to make your experience with SFCU and certain other sites more personalized based on the products, services, or other interaction you have with us and other sites. Information gathered through use of cookies may be used to make offers to you via online ads, email, U.S. mail, or telephone, subject to the privacy preferences you have on file with SFCU.

Additional Personal Information Collected Via Technology. We and our service providers may automatically log information about you, your computer or mobile device, and your interaction over time with our services, our communications and other online services, such as:

Device data, such as your computer’s or mobile device’s operating system type and version, manufacturer and model, browser type, screen resolution, RAM and disk size, CPU usage, device type (e.g., phone, tablet), IP address, unique identifiers, language settings, mobile device carrier, radio/network information (e.g., Wi-Fi, LTE, 3G), and general location information such as city, state or geographic area.Local storage technologies, like HTML5 and Flash, that provide cookie-equivalent functionality but can store larger amounts of data, including on your device outside of your browser in connection with specific applications.

Web beacons, also known as pixel tags or clear GIFs, which are used to demonstrate that a webpage or email was accessed or opened, or that certain content was viewed or clicked.Location Information. If you have enabled location services on your phone and agree to the collection of your location when prompted by the Site, we will collect your location information when you use the services; for example, to provide our fraud detection services. If you do not want us to collect this information, you may decline the collection of your location when prompted or adjust the location services settings on your device.

On our website, we do not collect any personal information from you, except for that provided in our on-line loan or membership applications or on our online member survey. If you contact us via e-mail, we will temporarily collect and retain your name and e-mail address, as well as the information contained in the message. Those messages and e-mail addresses are then deleted upon issue resolution.

In addition to the uses described above, we use information for purposes as allowed by law including: servicing; communicating with you; improving our Site, products, or services; legal compliance; risk control; information security; anti-fraud purposes; marketing or personalizing the presentation of our products and services to you; tracking website usage, such as number of hits, pages visited, and the length of user sessions in order to evaluate the usefulness of our sites; and using read-receipt notifications in our email communications.

We limit who receives personal information about our members or former members and the type of information shared. Any information shared with our affiliates, or non-affiliates, is done so only as permitted by law. From time to time, we may provide affiliated and non-affiliated companies with your name and address if we believe that you might benefit from their services. No other personal information is shared. You may choose not to have your name and address provided to our affiliates and non-affiliates by following the instructions provided later in the section titled, "It's Your Choice." Please note, regardless of any choices you make regarding your personal information, we may disclose your personal information to law enforcement, government authorities, and private parties, for the compliance and protection services described above.

The Site may contain links to third party websites or applications and third party websites or applications may link to the Site. These third party websites and applications are not part of our Site. SFCU is not responsible for the content or availability of linked sites. Please be advised that SFCU does not represent either the third party or you if you enter into a transaction. Neither SFCU nor its affiliates or subsidiaries make any representations or warranties regarding these third party websites or applications. We are not responsible for any losses or damages in connection with the information, security, privacy practices, availability, content or accuracy of materials of such third party websites or applications. These third party websites and applications may have privacy policies different from us and may provide less privacy and/or security than the Site. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of all third party websites and applications before you share any personally identifiable information with them.

The Site is not directed to children under the age of thirteen, and we request that all visitors to this site under the age of thirteen to not provide any personally identifiable information through or on the Site. We do not knowingly collect information from children under the age of thirteen without parental consent.

As permitted by law, we may contract with non-financial companies to perform specific services, such as:

  • Check printing
  • Statement processing
  • Consumer reporting
  • Credit/debit card processing
  • Printing/mailing of marketing materials
  • Marketing services for Securityplus FCU's financial products and services

We require that our business partners and vendors safeguard all personal information concerning our members. Under written agreement, your personal information may not be sold or used for any purpose other than intended. The types of financial information that may be shared, as permitted by law, include any, or all, of the following:

  • Name and address
  • Account and/or loan balance(s)
  • Social Security number
  • Date of birth
  • Payment history

We restrict access to nonpublic personal information about our members to those employees who need to know that information to provide products and services to you. We maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with Federal standards to guard your nonpublic personal information.

This Privacy Policy is subject to occasional revision. We will notify you of any material changes in its collection, use, or disclosure of your personal information by posting a notice on the Site. Any material changes to this Privacy Policy will be effective thirty (30) calendar days following notice of the changes on the Site. These changes will be effective immediately for new users of the Site. If you object to any such changes, you must notify us prior to the effective date of such changes that you wish to deactivate your account. Continued use of the Site following notice of any such changes shall indicate your acknowledgement of such changes.

Opting Out of Email or SMS Communications. If you have signed-up to receive our email marketing communications, you can unsubscribe any time by clicking the "unsubscribe" link included at the bottom of the email or other electronic communication. Alternatively, you can opt out of receiving marketing communications by contacting us at the contact information below. If you provide your phone number through the Site, we may send you notifications by SMS, such as provide a fraud alert. You may opt out of SMS communications by unlinking your mobile phone number through the Site.

Opting Out of Location Tracking. If you initially consented to the collection of geo-location information through the Site, you can subsequently stop the collection of this information at any time by changing the preferences on your mobile device. Please note, however, that if you withdraw consent to our collection of location information, you may no longer be able to use some features of the Mobile Application.

You can choose how you wish to learn about our products and services, including not receiving information from affiliates and non-affiliates. To tell us your preferences, you may:
